NEM, a blockchain platform that was launched in March 2015, is one of the industry's pioneers that aims to improve the shortcomings of other chains. It was one of the first non-Turing full chains to support user-defined tokens (mosaics), namespaces, multi-signature accounts, and a peer-to-peer reputation system based on a custom EigenTrust++ algorithm. The NEM client, NIS, is written in Java.
